Best Adults-Only Hotels in Greece
Adults-only sounds like a promise of quiet, and in Greece it is not. The label does one thing only: it keeps children out. It says nothing about whether the pool has a DJ, whether the terrace next door empties at midnight, or whether you can hear anything at all beyond the wind. If you are booking a honeymoon on that word alone, you are filtering for the wrong thing — because on these islands it is the island, not the label, that decides. Here are four adults-only hotels we’d book, arranged from the loudest to the quietest place in Greece.

What adults-only actually buys you
Almost every luxury hotel in the Cyclades is small — twenty to forty rooms, built into a slope, reached on foot. Adults-only is less a category than a consequence: these buildings were never going to work with a pram, and the ones that say so out loud are simply being honest.
What it does reliably give you is a certain kind of evening. No breakfast rush at eight, dinner served late, and a pool nobody is shouting across. What it cannot give you is silence, because silence is a property of the island.
- Santorini — the view is the product, and you share it with everyone else who came for it.
- Mykonos — adults-only here often means the opposite of quiet. It is a design decision, not an oversight.
- Milos — the same money, a third of the people, and beaches you reach by boat.
- Folegandros — one road, one village, and the ferry does not come every day.
Adults-only tells you who else is staying. The island tells you what you will hear.
One practical note before the list. None of these hotels is a five-minute taxi from an airport. Santorini and Mykonos have their own runways but the hotels sit up on cliffs; Milos has a small airstrip and a port; Folegandros has neither, only a ferry quay and a road up. Whichever you choose, the last leg is the awkward one, and it is worth arranging before you fly rather than at midnight with luggage on a quay.

01 · Katikies — Oia, Santorini
The famous one, and adults-only in the strictest sense. Cave suites cut white into the caldera wall, small pools hanging over the drop, and a terrace where the sunset arrives without you queueing for it. If the point of the trip is the photograph you already have in your head, this is where it is taken.
Be clear about the trade: Oia is busy from mid-morning until well after dark, and the caldera-edge hotels are reached on foot down stepped lanes. You are buying the view, not seclusion. 02 · Once in Mykonos — Ornos
Adults-only on Mykonos is a different animal, and this one says so in its name. Once in Mykonos sits above Ornos on the south coast, about three kilometres from the town — close enough to go in for the evening, far enough that the evening does not come to you. This is the version of a couples’ trip where you dress for dinner, go out afterwards, and sleep late.
Book it if you want the island’s evenings. Do not book it expecting a retreat: Mykonos in July and August is the loudest place in the Cyclades, and no hotel policy changes that.
There is one genuinely quiet day to be had here, and it involves leaving. Delos, half an hour offshore, is an uninhabited island of ruins where nobody lives and nothing is open after the last boat; Rhenia next to it has empty beaches and no road at all.

Ruins in the morning, an empty bay to swim in after lunch, and back in time to change for dinner. The one day on Mykonos that feels like the rest of the Cyclades.

03 · Milos Cove — Milos
Milos is what Santorini was before the photographs: a volcanic island of white rock coves, most of them reachable only by boat. Milos Cove sits on its own bay on the north coast, adults-only, with the sea directly below and no town attached.
Our pick of the four for a honeymoon that wants both quiet and something to do. The island is big enough to explore for a week and empty enough that you will not queue for any of it.
Kleftiko, the white sea caves the island is known for, has no road to it at all. Whatever else you book on Milos, book a boat.

04 · Gundari — Folegandros
The far end of the scale. Folegandros has one road, one village on a cliff, and a ferry that does not run daily out of season. Gundari sits alone on the south of the island above a rocky shore, adults-only, and there is nothing within walking distance — which is the entire proposition.
This is the one to book if what you actually want is to hear nothing. Come knowing that the last ferry back matters, that dinner is where you are staying, and that you will not be popping over to another island on a whim.
Two things to sort before you leave, both harder once you are on an island. The first is data: ferry times change, half of these hotels are found by map rather than by address, and on the smaller islands you will be checking the weather more than you expect.

The second is cover, and on a trip like this it is not the usual argument. Does adults-only mean quiet in Greece?
No. Adults-only keeps children out and nothing else. On Mykonos an adults-only hotel is often deliberately lively; on Folegandros or Milos it is genuinely silent. Filter by island first and by the label second.
Which Greek island is best for a honeymoon?
Santorini for the view and the photographs, and accept the crowds. Milos for a balance of quiet and things to do. Folegandros if seclusion is the point. Mykonos only if you want the nightlife as part of the trip.
When should couples visit the Greek islands?
Late May to mid June, and September into early October. The sea is warm by September, the light is better than in high summer, and the islands are workable rather than crowded. Many smaller hotels close from late October.
How hard is it to reach the smaller islands?
Milos and Folegandros are ferry islands — Milos has a small airport with domestic flights, Folegandros has none. Check the ferry timetable before you book the room, and leave a buffer day before any flight home: weather cancels crossings at short notice.
